We value innovation and creative solutions. It is fundamental to all our projects, whether it is in heritage and adaptive reuse, educational and commercial developments or private housing projects. We understand the process for exploration and research in projects that will answer complex problems in an efficient and cost effective manner. In developing strategies for innovation our experience suggests a process including:
Definition - understanding the key drivers for a project and the opportunities available for innovation. Service delivery, functional planning, building services, materials and energy use all need careful analysis relative to the clients need and ability to absorb and respond to change.
Research - involving a range of methods from desktop research to collaboration with client groups and external specialists, research benchmarks the opportunities against world best practice. Quantifiable measures and numerical analysis will determine success or value of the proposition.
Technical Development - an iterative process where all collaborators to the idea contribute. In depth technical resolution and refinement establishes the method for realisation. Computer modelling, physical prototypes and test panels identify shortcomings and dissect the components of the system.
Realisation - the key goal to deliver a successful and innovative project requires attention throughout the project. Modification of propositions at the point of fabrication incorporates the actuality of construction and contributes to further development. Innovation at this point in the process ultimately delivers new methods of construction to industry.
Tanner Kibble Denton Architects is experienced in many innovative project types. We have collaborated on projects with innovative building services, acoustics and heritage adaptation. Innovation and design excellence while requiring leadership does not imply an inflexible and exclusive approach - rather one of collaboration.
